Along the walkway witness the ruby red roofs and gorgeous natural bay that flows into the emerald sea. The shoreline is approx. 90km long and known as the Coral Riviera, home to a major colony of the finest coral.

On the way stop at the archaeological zone of Barumini to visit Nuraghe. Nuraghe is the main type of ancient megalithic edifice found in Sardinia, developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900 and 730 B.C. The complex is one of the 55 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy. According to UNESCO, this extremely important archaeological site is exemplary for being the most complete and best-preserved of the remains left by the Nuragic Civilization; at the same time, it also demonstrates the intelligent use of innovative materials and techniques by a prehistoric community.

Continue to Alghero, upon arrival, enjoy a walking orientation tour with your tour leader. See the Catalan Gothic buildings including the Santa Maria Cathedral with its imposing bell tower, Palazzo Guillot and San Francesco Church and the nearby San Michele church with its colourful tiled dome.

Today, join a boat excursion to the spectacular cave of Neptune’s Grotto. In the heart of the cliffside of Capo Caccia lies fairytale underworld of the Grotta di Nettuno (Neptune's Grotto), a spectacular system of rooms with saltwater lakes extending approx. 2,500 meters in length. Arguably one of the most fascinating natural jewels in the entire Mediterranean basin, the grotto is a geological wonder attracting more than 150,000 visitors per year.

In the afternoon continue your tour to Olbia. This coastal city in northeast Sardinia is known for the medieval San Simplicio Basilica (entrance not included), and for the charming cafes dotting its central squares. On the palm-lined waterfront to the east, the Archeological Museum of Olbia (entrance not included) has exhibits ranging from Nuragic artefacts (the indigenous civilisation whose lives are obscured by unanswered questions) to Roman warships. Enjoy some free time at leisure in this fascinating town. You might like to seek out local delicacies in the form of Olbian Clams (not included) to be paired, of course, with a glass of Vermentino (local white wine).

Today, join a full day excursion to Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast), a stretch of land along the northeast coast of Sardinia, Italy. The Costa Smeralda is synonymous with dream-like beaches, isolated coves and inlets, and gently-changing shades of blue and green sea. This extraordinary region is dotted with Mediterranean plant life, numerous villas, golf courses, tourist ports and homes hidden behind rocks shaped by the wind in perfect harmony with the environmental setting.

Drive to Palau, where you will board the ferry to Maddalena Island (approx. 20 minutes), one of Sardinia's secret islands. It’s the big sister of around 60 islands and islets that make up the archipelago to the northeast of Sardinia. The town of La Maddalena is the only one in the archipelago. The stone-paved alleyways of the town centre open onto 18th century buildings, including the town hall and the Santa Maria Maddalena parish. Three kilometres from the town centre is the Cala Francese inlet; between the Mediterranean brush and the granite quarry, you can discover tranquil inlets and incredible beaches here. Afterwards, cross the Ponte Moneta (Coin Bridge) to the small and beautiful island of Caprera. It has been declared a Wildlife Sanctuary and therefore is protected by strict building restrictions.

On the way back, stop at Porto Cervo, the undisputed king of luxury holidays. Its star is a small and charming village by the sea, an architectural gem amid an area of natural beauty. In the summer it welcomes an extraordinary procession of hundreds of yachts and famous personalities; it is quite likely that you may find yourself in the square, shopping side-by-side with film or television stars. In the late afternoon return back to your hotel in Olbia.

Your first stop is the Blue Grotto, which consists of a number of sea caverns on the southern coast of Malta. Every day from sunrise until about 1:00pm a unique sight can be observed here. The location of the cave, combined with the sunlight lead to the water mirroring, showing numerous shades of blue. Several caverns mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora; other caverns show a deep dark shade of blue. The Blue Grotto is a popular destination for tourists on the island of Malta. It was also used for a scene of the 2004 film Troy. You will have the opportunity to take a boat trip around the caves (subject to weather conditions).

The next stop is Hagar Qim (entrance included), a megalithic temple complex dating from the Ġgantija phase. Continue to Marsaxlokk, a small, traditional fishing village in the South Eastern Region of Malta. Take some time to wander its colourful harbour, known for its views, fishermen and history. Afterwards, head back to Valetta, where you will visit The Three Cities.

The Three Cities is a collective description of the three ‘fortified cities’ of Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua in Malta. The oldest of the Three Cities is Birgu, which has existed since the Middle Ages. The other two cities, Senglea and Cospicua, were both founded by the Order of Saint John in the 16th and 17th centuries.
